Nietzsche's Critique of Modernity (21712). 3 units. Nietzsche was critical of many aspects of the modern age that we generally associate with liberal values. We will examine some of the key concepts of Nietzsche's philosophy with these questions in mind. Readings will include The Birth of Tragedy, The Gay Science, The Genealogy of Morals, and other works. Paper required. Enrollment limited to fifteen. Also PHIL 735b. P.W. Kahn and A.T. Kronman.
